A Heart After God: A Celebration of Generosity

The Bible teaches us in 1 Samuel 13:14 that King David was a man after God’s own heart. But what does that truly look like?

One of the defining attributes of God’s heart is generosity—a tangible expression of His love and gratitude. King David embodied this when he longed to build a temple as a dwelling place for the Ark of the Covenant (2 Samuel 7). Though God had other plans, David did not waver in his devotion. Instead, he made abundant preparations for his son, King Solomon, to complete the temple (1 Chronicles 29). With a heart full of love for God’s house, David gave freely—not out of obligation or for recognition, but out of deep affection for the work of the Lord. His example stirred the people to do the same, creating a legacy of joyful giving.

2 Corinthians 9:10-11 reminds us that God enriches us in every way so that we can be generous on every occasion—and through our generosity, thanksgiving rises to God.

As we prepare to celebrate the birthday of our Spiritual Father, Bishop Joseph A. Robinson Sr., let us follow this godly example. With hearts full of love and gratitude, let us give freely and wholeheartedly, rejoicing in the opportunity to bless our Bishop as he has so richly blessed us.

Let our generosity be a testament to the heart of God!
